Recently published results on Italy’s leasing market in 2008
showed a negative impact on leasing activities for almost every key
player, with only MPS Leasing showing an increase.
UniCredit Leasing remains firmly at the top of leasing companies
in Italy, but reported new business of €6.15 billion, down by
almost 29 percent compared to 2007.

It was followed by Leasint, the leasing arm of Intesa Sanpaolo
banking group which was formed in January 2008. Leasint had a drop
of over 26 percent.
Both UBI Leasing and Banca Agrileasing, which came third and
fourth, had a drop of around 17 percent.
Banca Italease, once Italy’s biggest leasing company, came fifth
but had a drop by almost 69 percent. The troubled lessor is
undergoing extensive restructuring after the losses it suffered in
2007 and 2008.
The only lessor which did particularly well in the top ten was
MPS Leasing e Factoring, which recorded an increase by 18
percent.
The Siena-based company secured several key real estate leasing
deals and has grown to almost 5 percent of the Italian leasing
market.
