Commercial vehicle registrations across Europe
were 8.8 percent up in March 2010 compared to one year before,
according to the latest figures published by ACEA.
This is the first increase in almost two
years, the Brussels-based association said.

The light commercial vehicle segment posted a
12.4 percent growth (160,980 new vans were registered last month) –
with increases in all major markets, from 15.4 percent in Germany
to 29.2 percent in Italy.
Truck registrations, however, were down. The
3.5 tonnes-16 tonnes segment was 10 percent down (to 22,040 units),
with a significant contraction in Italy, France and the
Netherlands.
Demand for trucks remained stable in Germany
and the UK, and increased in Poland and Spain.
New registrations of heavier trucks (over 16
tonnes) were almost 19 percent down totalling 14,087 units, ACEA
said.
