In its press release, the firm also said the number of contracts
signed had increased by just under half to 7,590.

This comes at a time where the volume of leasing on the Czech
market has dropped by 11 per cent from the end of 2007’s first half
to Kc50bn (€2.1bn) due to changes in tax regulation. Nevertheless,
the Czech Leasing and Finance Association reported the number of
non-bank consumer loans up by 20 per cent year-on-year to Kc26.3bn
(€1.1bn) and loans to entrepreneurs up by 40 per cent to Kc10.4bn
(€431m).

Credium reported volume of financial leasing down by 15 per cent
year-on-year to Kc2.06bn (€85.5m) in the first half of 2008.
However, the decline was offset by the volume of consumer loans and
hire purchase deals, which rose three times to Kc1.35bn (€56m)
