The BVRLA has asked the government to give all providers of
motor finance greater access to funding.
In a letter to the business secretary Peter Mandelson, the UK
trade body for car and CV leasing and rental companies said that
“further measures” should be taken to support the UK’s new and used
car industry.

It said: “The government is helping manufacturers, but this help
could be in vain if car buyers aren’t able to finance their
purchases.”
BVRLA’s CEO John Lewis added that the UK should also introduce
incentives for motorists to trade in their more polluting cars for
cleaner ones.
“We believe that there are compelling reasons for a car
scrappage scheme to be made available to buyers, whether they are
purchasing new vehicles or fuel-efficient second-hand ones,” he
said.
