BDL, the German Leasing Association, has elected Kai Ostermann, chief executive officer of Deutsche Leasing, to succeed Martin Mudersbach as president.
Ostermann was chosen at the BDL’s 32nd general meeting, and Mudersbach, of akf Leasing, retired at the end of April after eight years as president, and 33 years in the leasing industry.

In his acceptance speech, Ostermann paid tribute to his predecessor. He said: “Martin Mudersbach’s unifying approach and single-minded leadership saw the BDL through the financial and economic crisis, and through the first years of supervision of the financial markets by BaFin (the German Financial Supervisory Authority).”
Ostermann has worked in the leasing industry for 14 years, and served as vice-president of the BDL from 2011. Jochen Jemlich of GEFA Bank replaces him as vice president, and Kerstin Scholz of VR Leasing and Maximilian Meggle of MMV Leasing have been elected to BDL’s management board.
Jürgen Mossakowski of CHG-Meridian left his position at the BDL after becoming a member of the supervisory board of his own company.
Ostermann said: “The BDL is currently in a good place. We now have to continue along the path that has been set out for us.”
