Kevin Lofting, the long-standing manager of Albury Asset
Rentals, retired last month after more than 12 years of service
with the company. Albury, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas Lease Group,
will now be managed by UK country manager Benoit Dilly.
However, BPLG still has a definite appetite for expansion in
materials handling. It has just hired Brian Warbrick, a one-time
colleague of Lofting who has worked in materials handling for 20
years, as head of key accounts for its Equipment & Logistics
Solutions (ELS) division.

For the last six years, Warbrick had been country sales manager
for De Lage Landen’s materials handling and construction divisions,
and will bring significant vendor experience to BPLG.
Commenting on strategy for 2010, Warbrick said “I feel that BPLG
is ideally placed with its size and group/parent background to
capitalise on its position in the market place, particularly as
other funders are repairing their structures due to past over
lending”.
Dilly added: “The materials handling sector is going through a
difficult time, however our manufacturing and dealer partners
remain resilient despite orders for trucks having reduced this year
by an average of about 40 percent. The materials
handling market has always been pretty hardy, and it will
continue to change and evolve through 2010 and beyond, with BPLG
remaining a key partner. 2010 is going to be a big year for
Albury”.
