- General demand reducing due to
decline within the construction sector and initial site
preparation.
Tracked excavators (1–10
tonnes)
- Demand reduced dramatically over
the past six months as a result of the decline in the UK housing
sector. - Associated company closures have
resulted in a large number of machines arriving on to the UK
market.
Tracked excavators (10–21
tonnes)
- Again demand reduced
significantly due to decline in housing and construction
sector.
Tracked excavators (21.5 +
tonnes)
- UK demand reduced over past 12
months. - Slight increase in demand over
the last three months from the export market due to current
exchange rates.

By GlobalData- Demand slowed gradually
throughout the year with the continued reduction in the UK
construction sector. - Annual trend generally shows
increased demand over March and April; however, at present this has
not been forthcoming.
Wheeled loading shovels
- Generally no major changes in
demand for wheeled shovels, although the overall trend is
negative. - As with most construction plant,
leading manufacturers’ machinery will sell more quickly than second
tier equipment.
Site dumpers
- Continual and rapid reduction in
demand throughout the year due to the general slowdown in the house
and small contract building sector.
Directional drilling
- A continually weak UK market,
which is showing little, if no, improvement over the coming months,
due to limited operational requirement. - A large quantity of second-user
machines are available on the US second-user marketplace due to a
major downturn in the cabling sector.
