The twice-yearly informal networking meetings of the UK leasing industry, organised by Peter McDonnell of consultants Cordoba Group, are to be held under the formal banner of the Association of Leasing Professionals from 2013.

McDonnell announced the organisation would be formed into a limited company in January at a group event held on 6 December in London.

McDonnell said the group will conduct industry research as well as organising social and charity fundraising events and asked for industry feedback to help shape the organisation’s role.

The group will aim to work alongside other industry bodies such as the Finance & Leasing Association and the Leasing Foundation, both of which had representatives in attendance, said McDonnell who is also a Fellow of the Leasing Foundation.

This month’s event raised £4,500 (€5,592), through attendee donations and an auction, for the AADC Research Trust, a charity which funds medical research into the rare genetic disease Aromatic Amino Acid Decarboxylase deficiency.

More than 200 people attended the event, which raised over £3,000 more than the summer meeting.
