GE Capital
GE Capital has hired former Linklaters banking partner Neil Harnby for
the newly created role of general counsel for Europe, Middle East
and Africa. Harnby was an associate at Denton Wilde Sapte before
joining Linklaters in 2004.

GE Capital’s legal division was
previously headed by Lorna Curry, who is in charge of structured
financing and lending, and Simon Ramage, who is head of legal for
the leasing business and UK platform. The pair are to remain with
the company and will report to Harnby.
Carsten Hesse
has been promoted to chief marketing officer at GE Capital Germany.
Hesse, who will report directly to Joachim Secker, will be based in
Düsseldorf. He was previously marketing leader at GE’s DISKO Group,
the equipment finance business acquired from Munich-headquartered
KGAL in 2007.

The Alta Group has announced
that 20-year international leasing veteran Paul Piggott
has joined the EMEA business as an associate.

vendor finance, has been based in South Africa for four years,
where he has a track record of building high-performing vendor
leasing programmes.
Before joining Alta, Piggott held various general management and
business roles with GE Capital, Heller Vendor Financial Services,
and, most recently, Key Equipment Finance, where he had overall
responsibility for new and existing vendor programmes.
Nostrum Group
Software specialist icenet’s parent company, The Nostrum Group, has
appointed Arnie
Iversen as its new chairman. Iversen has over 35
years’ experience in the financial services sector – 25 of which as
CEO – and has held various board positions with companies including
GE Capital, GMAC, Ventura, Littlewoods Shop Direct Group and most
recently T.I.S. Group.
Commenting on his appointment,
Iversen said: “I have had the pleasure of working with Nostrum’s
icenet subsidiary as a customer and was impressed with their
capability and commitment. The group as a whole is developing well
and our objective now, in this difficult economic climate, is to
build on this sound platform, identifying and seizing opportunities
to grow the business further.”

acquisition of Finlex software from Geoplex, Geoplex MD
John
Allen has joined the company as business
development director.
Allen, who has more than 20
years of asset finance industry experience, said that in his new
role he will be committed to “offer the SME asset finance market an
integrated solution, at a time of heightened interest in own book,
block discounting and smaller captive solutions”.
WCG
White Clarke Group (WCG) has
appointed Nazli
Civelek as the company’s representative in Turkey.
She has been working with WCG for several years, delivering client
projects in their UK and European offices.
Civelek said she will be
committed to work closely with the country’s lessors, and to invest
in adapting WCG systems, to meet the requirements of the local
marketplace.
The software house has recently entered the Turkish market, as part
of its expansion strategy.
Société
Générale
Société Générale has appointed
Mark
Westley as its Asia-Pacific regional head of
shipping and asset finance. He will be based in Hong Kong, and
replaces Mark Howard, who returns to Europe with the French
bank.
Westley previously headed the
bank’s London-based liquefied natural gas shipping team and will
drive the further development of SG shipping and asset finance
business in the region.
