The managing director of Metro Bank’s commercial banking division has stepped down after four years in the job.
Mark Stokes’ resignation also brings to a close his role as director of the challenger bank’s invoice finance and asset finance subsidiary companies, directorships he held for just over two years.

Ian Walters, managing director of distribution for Metro Bank, has responsibility for business and commercial banking in Stokes’ absence. Walters joined Metro Bank in August 2015 and was previously managing director of business banking for RBS and NatWest, a post he held for over four years.
Mark Stokes, who has over 20 years’ experience on executive boards and has been with Metro Bank since January 2016, resigned as director from SME Invoice Finance Ltd and SME Asset Finance Ltd, effective on 30 April.
Stokes was a member of Metro Banks’ executive committee, asset and liability committee, enterprise risk committee, and its credit committee.
Stokes previously held roles with Lloyds Banking Group and Standard Chartered Group.
