The award, presented for the first time, recognises an outstanding leasing and asset finance leader in Europe, according to a statement from the Foundation.

Foundation governor and chair of judges John Howland-Jackson said; "We were seeking a candidate who was leading a thriving business, someone who was driving change along lines similar to those espoused by the Foundation in recognition of how this links with the success of their business, and someone who had been able to demonstrate support for the Foundation through his or her own actions.

"Our winner ticks just about all the boxes – business success, philanthropy, people development and research commitment."

European CEO of the Year Jonathan Andrew is chief executive of the Commercial Finance Division of Siemens Financial Services worldwide. He joined Siemens in 2002, following four years as chief financial Officer International, Gateway Inc., prior to which he held various leadership roles in GE Capital.
