JCB Finance has praised the temporary doubling of tax relief on
plant purchases over £50,000 (€57,000) announced in last month’s
Budget, despite confirmation from HMRC the move will not benefit
hire companies offering self-drive equipment.
Head of marketing Nigel Greenaway said: “HMRC told us where the
plant is expected to be mixed hire [with and without operatives],
provided the hire is predominately with operatives, then all the
expenditure should qualify for the temporary first-year
allowances.”
