Clibbens has worked in the financial services sector for 33 years, and has held a seat on the FLA board for the previous three.

A chartered accountant, Clibbens began working at Lombard in 1994, and was first made a director in 2001.

Clibbens said he was honoured to be appointed chairman and added: "I intend to use my tenure as chairman to continue to lift the standards of customer service in the sector, while working to raise awareness of the innovative and flexible funding solutions offered by the FLA’s members, as well as the key role we can play in establishing a sustainable economic recovery."

Clibbens appointment shortly follows that of Simon Goldie, who was named head of asset finance at the start of May.
