Headquartered in Frauental, Styria, Austria, DPB Rail Infra Service is part of the DPB Group and provides a range of rail logistics services.
Its operations include running multi-system locomotives, carrying out shunting and siding tasks, inspecting wagons, and supplying trained personnel for railway operations.
DPB Rail head Niklas Bisenberger said: “The flexibility of the EuroDual was a key factor in our decision. The ability to operate both in diesel and electric mode with a locomotive that delivers high tractive power was particularly important to us. This allows us to react flexibly to different operating conditions and to cover new business areas that were previously not economically viable.
“A clear advantage lies in its high performance. It is approximately 1.5 times more powerful than a Vectron, which enables its use on demanding routes. When deployed strategically, it significantly increases our competitiveness and opens up new market opportunities.”

By GlobalDataThe EuroDual model from ELP features six axles and is capable of running on diesel at 2.8MW or using electric power up to 9MW.
The locomotives deliver a tractive effort of 500kN and are equipped with ETCS Baseline 3 systems, which support safe operation on category 2 lines.
European Loc Pool CEO Willem Goosen stated: “The decision to lease two EuroDuals reflects the confidence in the performance of our hybrid locomotives and demonstrates that flexibility, efficiency and sustainability are becoming increasingly important in rail freight transport.”
ELP first introduced these locomotives to the German rail network in April 2020. The design allows them to operate on both electrified and non-electrified tracks, as well as perform last-mile and shunting duties.
The Euro9000, ELP’s second-generation hybrid locomotive, has been in service on routes across Europe since mid-2023.
European Loc Pool is based in Switzerland and offers leasing and maintenance for hybrid locomotives designed to suit freight operators’ requirements.
