Kerr, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland, said he was delighted to be heading up the Lloyds Commercial Finance team and looked forward to supporting the ambitions of UK businesses through alternative forms of finance.
Ian Larkin has left to pursue interests outside of the organisation.
The bank has also appointed John Robson as commercial director of Lloyds TSB Commercial Finance, following his previous role as regional director for SME banking in the midlands and north.
David Oldfield, managing director of SME and Mid-Markets Banking for Lloyds Banking Group, to whom Kerr will report, said: "These appointments further strengthen the leadership team in Commercial Finance and demonstrate the banks’ commitment to helping firms find flexible forms of finance."
