The Bank of England reports that gross lending (excluding overdrafts) to non-financial businesses was £17.3bn in September compared to the average of £15.5bn over the previous six months.
In its money and credit report, the Bank of England said within that figure, gross lending to SMEs was £4.8bn over the previous six months, up £1.1bn on August’s figures.

Repayments by non-financial businesses had risen by £2.7bn on the average over the last six months from £16.3bn to £18.5bn in September; the Bank said repayment by SMEs was £5bn, compared to the average of £4.5bn over the previous six months.
Net lending , which the Bank defined as gross lending minus repayments to large businesses, was £1.0bn in September. Net lending to SMEs was -£0.1bn.
