Conventional machine
tools
- The general decline in the
conventional sector experienced during the past 12 months appears
to have eased, especially for late model examples. However demand
for older machines in poor condition is still slow due to the
quantities available. - The demand for large capacity
conventional machine tools is relatively slow due to the trading
conditions in the heavy manufacturing sector.
CNC machining centres
- <Demand has been positive
during the past 9 months with realisations reflecting the
same. - The automotive sector has seen
some improvement during 2010 however this does not appear to have
been the case within the aerospace sector.
CNC
lathes
- As with machining centres the
demand for general CNC lathes has slowly improved during the past 9
months. - High specification examples by
leading manufacturers have sold within the UK and Europe at
reasonable levels. - There is a quantity of such
machinery currently available however the auction scene has slowed
slightly in recent months.

By GlobalData- Demand remains steady for good
quality well maintained equipment however values of such are
generally low especially if sold for export markets. - Older and misused machines have
limited appeal and are generally being sold at salvageable only
values.
Electrical discharge
machines
- Slight improvements have been
seen within the sector and we are aware of several new machines
being purchased. Demand is principally for leading brand
machines.
Conventional gear
machinery
- General demand is relatively
slow within the UK and overseas as the heavy plant sector continues
to struggle. - Good clean examples of
conventional machines have seen limited export demand from
developing economies.
CNC gear
machinery
- Only limited amounts of such
equipment enters the market. However, demand is expected to
continue for such equipment as facilities can update from ageing
traditional machines.
