What was your first ever
job?
Saturday sales assistant at Woolworths
in Hounslow at the age of 16. I worked at the record department and
one of my work colleagues also worked as a DJ, so there were plenty
of parties to go to.
US Tariffs are shifting - will you react or anticipate?
Don’t let policy changes catch you off guard. Stay proactive with real-time data and expert analysis.
By GlobalDataWhere is the best place to go
if you want to find out what’s really going on in the
office?
The interim meetings with the
managers.
What time do you leave the
office?
6pm.
What’s your favourite
restaurant?
There are many, depending on my mood.
For dinner with the children we would go to the Tickenham Inn; they
like the variety of food. For a romantic meal I love going to
Edwinns. For fresh fish, the best restaurant would be the one over
looking the bay in Port Andrax, Majorca – the dorada baked in sea
salt is to die for.
What do you do at
weekends?
Apart from catching up with the
housework, I like to go walking in the Chess Valley, cycling in
Dorset where my mum lives, going to the theatre at least twice a
year and concerts.
I also like to spend time on a Sunday over a roast dinner with my
partner and whichever children happen to be around. When my
daughter is home from Manchester University, shopping takes
priority.
Who is your mentor or role
model?
My partner, Phillip, who is also an
accountant, although he sold off his practice years ago and now
owns his own company involving design – making and selling kitchen
goods.
I like to be involved as much as possible, working as a team. His
professional attitude and hard working ethics, along with his
encouragement, have inspired me to further my career.
What’s one of the best things
about your job?
The people I work with – it makes a
huge difference to your day if you work in a pleasant environment.
We work as a team and are able to express our thoughts and ideas in
an open and constructive way.
If you weren’t in your current
job, what would you have been?
An accountant in a large
organisation.
What’s your biggest
work/career mistake?
Working for property developers,
although the flexibility was perfect for work/home balance with
young children.
What cars do you
drive?
Volvo s60 and a very fast Lexus
Soarer.
What book are you currently
reading?
Nothing at the moment – in my spare
time, I help my son with his studies.
What’s on your CD player or
MP3 player at the moment?
West Life, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Buble, Gabrielle, Rod
Stewart, Alicia Keys, Simply Red, Fleetwood Mac etc. Most of these
I have seen live in concert.
