What was your first ever
job? I was a mailing equipment salesperson for Pitney
Bowes, with a patch extending from Brighton to Hastings and up to
Tunbridge Wells.
Where’s the best place to go
if you want to find out what’s really going on in the
office? Probably the café round the corner, where people
often meet for breakfast.
US Tariffs are shifting - will you react or anticipate?
Don’t let policy changes catch you off guard. Stay proactive with real-time data and expert analysis.
By GlobalDataWhat time do you usually leave
the office? Between 6.30 and 7, usually.
What do you do at
weekends? It depends on the season – in the summer,
generally cricket. Even though I’m 50, I play a reasonable amount
at the Esher club, and also coach young cricketers. In the winter,
I’m generally found traipsing around watching my son play rugby and
hockey.
What’s your favourite
restaurant? Roast in Borough Market, London, is a great
value spot.
If you weren’t in your current
job, what would you be doing? In my dreams, I’d be a pro
golfer or pro cricketer.
Who is your mentor or role
model? There are plenty of leaders I have admired over the
years – two that come to mind are Jeff Immelt and Steve Sargent
from GE.
What is the best thing about
your job? The people that work here at Syscap – they are
an energetic, positive and creative bunch, and put a lot of
positive energy into the business.
What was your biggest career
mistake? Probably following Johnnie Halliday into a major
accounts sales role at Pitney Bowes, since he very rapidly nicked
all the low-hanging fruit!
What car do you
drive? An Audi.
What books/blogs/periodicals
are you currently reading? 1984 by George
Orwell.
What is on your CD player or MP3 player at the
moment? I just got two new CDs – Elbow and Snow
Patrol.
