The drop has been particularly significant within the LCV
sector, with vans down 46.9 percent. Truck registrations were 19.1
percent down in November.

Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, said: “November saw another
big dent in van and truck registrations.”

He said that vans were down some 12 percent for the rolling
year, while trucks looked “superficially good for the rolling year,
with a near 15 percent rise on the back of orders won over the last
year.”

“With much of industry shutting down over Christmas and into the
New Year, we’re in for a bleak winter,” he said.
