“Until now, the complexity of financing a proton therapy centre,
and the delay between capital expenditures and revenue generation
were major impediments for our customers that wanted to make proton
therapy accessible for their patients,” said Jean Marc Andral,
president of IBA’s proton therapy business.
Proton therapy is an advanced alternative to x-ray radiation
therapy for certain types of cancerous and non-cancerous tumors,
the company said.
“My hope is that MaxiPRO will accelerate access to proton
therapy technology and hence make this highly precise cancer
treatment available for more and more patients in the near future,”
added Pierre Mottet, chief executive officer of IBA.
