Independent lessor Bluestone
Leasing is to open a second UK office in Stockport, and will also
automate its back office.

The upbeat moves reflect a
doubling of new business in the past 12 months, owing in part to a
gap in the market caused by restrictions on bank credit.

“We’re turning a corner and
we can take advantage of that, said Vineesh Madaan, managing
director. Corporate sector business is “going from strength to
strength”, but Bluestone’s smaller public sector business has a
more uncertain outlook.

“Over the past several months
since the government announced the cutbacks, everything’s been put
on hold. There’s just the odd school going ahead which desperately
needs the equipment. It’s still too unclear – that’s the biggest
problem we’re facing,” Madaan said.

Bluestone is working on a
software funding programme for the NHS, designed to help spread
payments. A major NHS licensing deal with Microsoft was scrapped
earlier this year.

Madaan said: “The main thing is to build awareness of the
business.”
