Law firm Watson, Farley & Williams (WFW)
has expanded its asset finance team with two new partners.
Nicola Davies and Samantha Yardley have both
joined WFW’s London office from commercial law firm Berwin Leighton
Paisner.
Yardley returns to WFW where she had her first
posting after qualifying as a lawyer. She specialises in mid-ticket
leasing and has acted for lessors, brokers and lessees on all types
of financing structures. She was an associate director with
BLP.
Samantha Yardley commented: “There are many
parallels between my experience, expertise, and those of WFW’s
asset finance team. I worked post-qualification at WFW and look
forward enormously to re-joining the firm and helping build on its
fine reputation”.
Davies has experience in shipping, aviation,
energy, project finance and cross-border leasing transactions and
was a partner at BLP for 24 years.
Davies said she was excited about joining WFW
at a time when its international asset finance offering, which
makes up around a thrid of the firm’s overall business, was
growing.

By GlobalDataAndrew Baird, partner within the asset finance
team, said the hires were part of an expansion of the firm’s asset
finance division across its global network over the last few
years.
He said there are some signs of increasing
activity in the asset finance industry and added WFW is increasing
its market share. Baird also suggested some magic circle firms, the
five leading UK-headquartered law firms, were reducing their asset
finance work.
David Osborne, partner and head of WFW’s asset
finance team in London said the two hires demonstrate WFW’s high
level of activity and commitment to asset finance, and said he was
excited about the next phase of growth for this expanding
practice.
WFW managing partner Michael Greville said:
“This recruitment is further demonstration of the strength, breadth
and depth of WFW’s global asset finance practice and reinforces our
commitment to that practice”
