Hundreds of customers who signed up to leases of GPS and
telecoms equipment are threatening to stop paying their monthly
rental payments claiming they have not received services they were
contractually promised.

An action group has been launched by customers of the telecoms
equipment – which was leased by a large number of banks and
independents – who also claim that the equipment is worth many
times the value of the leases.

It is believed that lawyers acting for the lessees in the telecoms
case, which involved the signing of finance agreements on equipment
distributed by recently wound up company Global Telecoms &
Technology, are considering launching a class action, and it is
believed to have been referred to the Finance & Leasing
Association for investigation.

Meanwhile, large numbers of golf clubs in the UK and also, it is
understood, in Germany, allege they signed up to leases of GPS
equipment – most of which was financed by Bank of Scotland
Equipment Finance – believing they were also to receive advertising
revenue from a company called GP Ads Limited. They claim they never
received most of this advertising revenue.
