The leasing industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina shrunk by over 10
percent in 2008, according to the country’s leasing
association.
Leasing companies in the South Eastern European country wrote
7,218 contracts worth €351.7 million, a figure around 11 percent
lower than in 2007.
“The reduction of growth was most influenced by the financial
crisis and the regulation imposed on leasing companies,” explained
Sulajman Hadžiæ, president of the Association of Leasing Companies
in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Hadžiæ added that although the last quarter tends to usually be
the busiest for lessors, business was severely affected by the
economic crisis last year.
There are seven main lessors in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Hypo
Leasing is the top player, with 32 percent market share, followed
by UniCredit Leasing (23 percent), Raiffeisen Leasing (22 percent),
VB Leasing (11 percent) and four more.
