As disputes continue over leases signed for equipment sold by
collapsed telecoms provider Global Telecoms & Technology Ltd,
lessors are beginning to escalate legal action against Global’s
ex-customers.

It is understood that 888 Chilled & Frozen Foods Ltd, a
Radcliffe-based firm that went out of business shortly after having
its telephone systems collapse in January, is now being pursued by
Universal Leasing for the remaining balance of a 74 month lease
contract worth £178.81 per month.

The company’s co-owner, Chris Beswick, signed a personal
guarantee against the telecoms lease, and now claims he may lose
his house as a result of the current legal action.

Beswick is a member of ex-Global customer organisation Give Me
My Money Back, a group set up by Manchester loan broker Barry
Taylor. Many of its more than 300 members have stopped paying
leases on Global equipment, claiming that contracts included the
lease of services as well as equipment.

Talking to Crain’s Manchester Business, Taylor
commented:  “The leasing companies have started to take action
against people who have stopped paying, but our solicitors will be
defending them in county courts.”
