The UK’s Finance & Leasing Association
(FLA) has reiterated its commitment representing the leasing and
asset finance industry in response to the potential formation of
another organisation.

Peter McDonnell, chief executive of Cordoba
Group, suggested Thursday 28 June forming a
not-for-profit organisation complimentary to the Finance &
Leasing Association (FLA).

McDonnell said there was room in the UK
leasing industry for a not-for-profit membership organisation,
geared towards social events and research, and added the idea was
in part a response to the increasing popularity of the Cordoba
Group’s bi-annual leasing lunches.

Responding to the report in Leasing
Life
, Julian Rose, head of asset finance at the Finance &
Leasing Association, said: “The FLA runs an extensive programme of
social events, including our annual dinner, dedicated asset finance
dinners, and regular drinks receptions.

“There will always be room for more, and the
Cordoba lunches have been a part of the industry scene for a
while.

“But the FLA’s members rightly demand a great
deal more from us – as our track-record of lobbying, high-quality
research and representation shows.
