Spain finances ?166m of new buses
The Spanish government has spent 95 million on 484 new bus leases in the year to mid-July, in a huge programme designed to update the countrys entire fleet Plan VIVE, a joint project between Spains ministry of public work and transport (Ministerio de Fomento), and the state financial agency, Official Institute of Credit (ICO), aims to improve the efficiency of the fleet and to reduce pollution.
Bibby FS acquires Aston Rothbury Factors
UK invoice finance provider Bibby Financial Services (Bibby FS) has acquired the client portfolio of Aston Rothbury Factors which went into administration last month after the incumbent funder withdrew its funding lines.
GE Capital provides financing for Solar4Schools scheme
GE Capital has teamed up with solar company Solarcentury to provide financing to UK schools and local authorities via the Solar4Schools scheme. The lessor will fund the cost of installing the solar technology with the school typically paying an initial small deposit and paying back the equipment cost over 15 years. According to Solarcentury, the scheme will mean that schools and local authorities own the equipment once the lease is repaid, “enabling local communities to benefit from the full Feed-in Tariff payments from year 15 to 25 of the scheme”.
Absolute Invoice Finance funds Midlands printing firm
UK invoice financier Absolute Invoice Finance has provided a £300,000 (357,000) working capital facility to printing firm Pinstripe Print for acquiring Birmingham-based Edward Fox.
Hannover Leasing wins PV deal in Southern Italy
German lessor Hannover Leasing is financing the construction of three additional photovoltaic (PV) plants in Apulia, southern Italy following the financing of six power plants which have been in operation in the same area since end of 2009.
CAL&F finances new aquatic centre in Loir-et-Cher
Frances Crdit Agricole Leasing & Factoring (CAL&F) has financed the construction of a new aquatic centre in Controis, in the administrative division of Loir-et-Cher. The aquatic centre, which opened to the public at the beginning of July, was financed and built by CAL&F based on a 20-year Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract with the Vinci Group.

US-headquartered Key Equipment Finance (KEF) has promoted Ebony Pompey to vice president of North American origination operations. Pompey joined the leasing company in 1999 as an account manager and subsequently became director of business processing and then vice president of operations
Zenith Provecta wins 6,000 vehicle deal with FTSE-250 company
UK fleet management and leasing company Zenith Provecta has signed a 6,000 vehicle contract with MITIE Group, a FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing business providing facilities, property and asset management to large UK firms. Zenith Provecta is providing maintenance management for around 3,000 vehicles, accident management for around 6,000 vehicles including cars and commercial vehicles and a daily rental solution.

ALD Automotive short-term leasing business boom
The operational leasing and fleet management business line of the Socit Gnrale group said that its PoolFleet service the companys short-term, flexible leasing product has increased from 650-700 live car rentals at any time last year to more than 900 vehicles in the first half of 2010. PoolFleet operations manager Adrian Temple commented: Corporate demand for vehicles on short-term contracts is high as employment conditions are changing and businesses report signs of recovery from recession.
