Green paper signals recovery role for asset finance
The Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) has called on government to extend the Enterprise Finance Guarantee to include asset finance as it seeks to boost business lending. The move is part of FLAs response to Financing a Private Sector Recovery, a government green paper designed to kick start a consultation on how to drive business growth.

Critics hit out at IFRS for leasing
Critics believe that the proposed new rules are confused, will restrict access to finance and could result in some lessees breaking their loan covenants. Julian Rose, head of asset finance at the Finance and Leasing Association (FLA) said: “The IASBs proposals involve taking real numbers and replacing them with a mish-mash of accountants assumptions, estimates and adjustments.”

The operational leasing and fleet management business line of the Socit Gnrale group said that PoolFleet its short-term, flexible leasing offering has increased from 650 to 700 live car rentals at any time last year, to 900 in the first half of 2010.
Zenith Provecta wins TDG deal
Fleet management company Zenith Provecta has won a new sole supplier agreement with supply chain and management company TDG. TDG has outsourced to Zenith the funding and management of its 150 vehicle company car fleet to centralise its fleet operation to maximise efficiency and offer a high quality service to its drivers, Zenith said. TDG HR manager Rebecca Judd said: Our aim was to streamline the company car fleet function whilst increasing internal customer service levels.
