Banca Italease’s biggest shareholder Banco
Popolare has confirmed that it is in talks with the other pact
shareholders on a possible delisting of the lessor.
In a statement issued on Thursday at the
request of Italy’s market regulator Consob, Banco Popolare said:
“There are contacts underway among the pact shareholders. At
present, no decision has been made on the future of the leasing
company.”

Banca Italease was temporalily suspended from trading, after
gaining as much as 12.9 percent.

Speculation on the possible delisting mounted at the end of
February, and earlier this week Il Sole 24 Ore, Italy’s
main financial newspaper, said that a plan to delist Italease could
be announced as early as the end of this week.
