The product, which is the latest
addition to a range of five e-commerce platforms developed by epyx,
has a total of 1,250 users.

An epyx spokesperson said that the
recent growth was “recessionary-driven” as “companies have been
looking at their cost base. What E-commerce allows them to do is to
process transactions with more control, at a lower cost and more
accurately.”

Effectively a remarketing
application, the software provides potential buyers – including
dealers, auction houses and lessors – with details of cars and
light commercial vehicles before they are defleeted.

Potential clients are also alerted
when vehicles that match their specifications become available.

Ken Trinder, epyx’s head of
business development, said that a number of major leasing companies
have already signed up to dispose of vehicles through the 1link
disposal platform, and expects “strong growth” in 2009.

He explained: “The convenience for
lessors is about getting information and managing it efficiently
and being able to make informed decisions, because where you get
the best prices today may not necessarily be where you get the best
prices tomorrow, so you can switch. You can have vehicles in
different channels at the same time. It can be at an auction, but
it can also visible to an online buyer community.”

Trinder added that “the stock tends
to be of a very high quality, coming from reputable leasing
companies complete with very detailed service histories”.
