Last month saw the relaunch of the Leasing Life
Christmas Lunch after a lapse of five years.

The celebrated event, which was started by the founder and
former editor of Leasing Life, Vic Lock, drew a crowd of
around 100 senior UK leasing industry figures to the Institute of
Directors in London.

Organised by Leasing Life and Derek Soper, the chairman
of The Alta Group, the event raised £4,000 for Cancer Journey, a
recently formed charity that provides information to anyone
affected, directly or indirectly, by cancer.

The money was raised through an auction of wine, a ‘real’ tennis
lesson, a weekend holiday and other items donated by the leasing
industry.

Sam Geneen, managing director of the Five Arrows Leasing Group,
acted as the auctioneer, and his company’s parent bank, Rothschild,
donated cases of wine given away at a raffle.

Cancer Journey’s patron, Andy Ripley, a former English rugby
union player, gave a 45-minute speech, without using notes, on his
personal fight against prostate cancer, and also on the state of
contemporary English rugby.
