Barclays has hired a raft of new management staff in its asset
finance division from several of its banking rivals.
The move follows the promotion of Ian Stuart from sales director
to head of the bank’s leasing arm, Barclays Asset & Sales
Finance (BA&SF).

The arrivals include Rhaj Bhardwaj, who takes on the role of
associate director of new business for the east Midlands.
Previously he was at GE Commercial Finance and RBS.
Jeremy Smith, who joins as regional director for the north west,
was previously at Enterprise Finance Europe, a division of Bank of
Ireland, and has some 25 years of experience in asset-based
lending, including at Lloyds TSB and Bank of New York.
Former corporate banker Paul Woodhead, who previously worked at
RBS, HSBC, Lloyds and NMB Heller, has taken over as director of
BA&SF’s north eastern business. Another asset-based lending
specialist, Graham Stokes, who joins from Fairfax Gerrard, a
transaction finance specialist, has been appointed a relationship
manager for the Barclays’ southern asset finance.
Also, Andy Gearing has joined BA&SF as a relationship
manager. Previously he was an account manager at Lombard’s
corporate finance arm.
