Previously similar vehicles were leased Panalpina by another
leasing company, details of which were not disclosed.
TIP’s UK arm has historically leased vehicles to Panalpina, and
the six trailers leased in the new deal will be based in Durham, in
northern England, and be used to transport high value oil and gas
to Norway and beyond, including the Arctic.
“The final trailer specification reflects the diverse nature and
high value of the equipment being transported to and from Norway
for the rigs and off shore surveys,” said Ernie Pickersgill, oil
and gas manager for Panalpina in Norway.
The operating lease contract between Panalpina and TIP is for
five years. TIP, an arm of GE’s equipment services division, has
74,000 trailers under lease across Europe.
