The Council of Europe Development Bank
(CEB) and Austria’s Hypo Group Alpe-Adria signed a €100m contract
for a joint credit line to support micro-, small- and medium-sized
enterprises in Bosnia. Hypo-Alpe Adria Leasing will provide €10m in
loans under the project, which will contribute one fifth of the
Hypo Group’s allowance. CEB will also provide the remainder €50m.
The loans are extended to firms that have less than 250 employees,
an annual turnover of less than €50m and total assets under €43m.
The money will enable the firms to invest in production, new
equipment, technology, infrastructure and working capital.
Thomas Karl Tomsich, executive director of Hypo’s other bank in
Bosnia, Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank Mostar, said: “Small and medium-sized
enterprises in private ownership are the healthiest and most
progressive segment of the Bosnian economy, and I hope this credit
support will assist them further in their development and
advancement.”
