BNP Paribas Lease Group, part of the French bank, is suing a
homeless charity for £105,174 over an unpaid lease agreement.
The case appeared in the Metro newspaper and ran: ‘Hastings
Community Housing Association in East Sussex fell behind on £40 a
week payments for £2,000 copier and BNPLG is demanding
£105,174.’

A spokesperson for BPLG in the UK confirmed that “legal action
is being taken” and as such could only comment on the costs
published: “I don’t know where these figures for the cost of
photocopier and weekly rental came from, but they are grossly
underestimated.”
Meanwhile, BNPLG Europe is extending its coverage to Romania.
Following developments in Poland and Hungary and collaboration
with UkrSibbank in the Ukraine, the corporate finance provider
opened the subsidiary early July.
Philippe Lambert, head of international development, BPLG, pointed
to ease of business in Romania. “The development of Eastern
European countries is becoming a reality. Romania’s accession to
the EU last year makes it even easier for international firms to
enter the country now. The subsidiary will allow us to provide full
support to our industrial partners in Romania.”
The Romanian team will be headed up by Philippe Chabert, formerly
of BPLG Italy.
