Previously the business, which has around 37,000 vehicles, was
managed by John Taylor, the sales director of Lex – which leases
cars as well as commercial vehicles.

Former Renault UK manager, Mark Lovett, has been given the new
role.

The ambit of Lovett’s job will include developing the company’s
sales and marketing strategy. Taylor said he was given the job
because of his record of building relationships and “delivering
sales volume growth within the commercial vehicle market”.

Having initially joined Renault UK managing its light commercial
vehicle (LCV) dealer relationships, he subsequently was appointed
as commercial vehicle brand manager within Renault’s marketing
department, and spent the last three years of his 18-year career at
Renault as national fleet sales manager for LCVs.

Lex’s commercial vehicle arm – which represents just under
one-fifth of the company’s overall business – also manages the back
office of HSBC’s leased commercial vehicle fleet. HSBC provides the
finance for this business.

Lex is currently in the process of completing the assimilation
of Bank of Scotland Vehicle Finance’s 65,000 strong fleet.

Although Lex is in the process of expansion, Hill Hire, another
commercial vehicle arm of HBOS, is reportedly up for
sale.
