The Polish arm of Cargobull
Finance (CBF), a joint venture between De Lage Landen and Schmitz
Cargobull (SCB), has financed the acquisition of 160 trailers from
SCB by Poland’s largest food retail chain, Biedronka.

The trailers will be delivered by the
end of the year, as part of the new transport fleet that Biedronka
is setting up to serve its 1,090 retail outlets in Poland.

CBF, which was founded in 2000, began
operations as CBF Poland in 2005, in partnership with EWT, SCB’s
dealer network in Poland. In March of this year, De Lage Landen
embarked on a vendor finance program with Diesel Truck, a sister
company of EWT and Poland’s largest Mercedes Benz dealer
network.

The Diesel Truck agreement, along with
the CBF Poland joint venture, has left Poland as one of the
strongest markets for De Lage Landen’s European Transportation
Business Unit.

Six months ago, SBC and De Lage Landen
announced they were launching Cargobull Finance in Russia. CBF now
operates in 18 European countries, with a portfolio of €700 million
comprising more than 34,000 trailers.
