The global market for medium and heavy trucks shrank by 2.9
percent in 2008, according to the latest report by Research and
Markets, which publishes international research for an extensive
array of clients including the UK government and a number of banks
and multinational firms.

According to the report, the total value of medium and heavy
trucks decreased to $295.4 billion (€212.48 billion).

In the same period, the number of units decreased by 5.5 percent
to reach a volume of 6.7 million.

The report also forecasts that in 2013, globally the market for
commercial vehicles could reach a value of $456.1 billion, which
would represent an increase of 54.4 percent compared with 2008
figures.
