Used van values are exceeding 2006 levels, Manheim Auctions’
latest three-year market analysis for vans has shown.
According to the auctioneer, the average selling price for a
used van in Q3 2009 was 4 percent or £127 (€140) higher than the
same quarter in 2006.
However, the same figure was 10.7 percent lower (£389) than Q3
2007, a record year for the used van market.
The analysis showed that the volume of vans sold by Manheim has
varied from quarter to quarter, with the most notable variance
occurring in Q2 2009, when volumes were 25 percent higher than in
the same period in 2008.
Manheim Auctions’ sales director for commercial vehicles Alex
Wright said: “Accepting that 2007 was an exceptional year, today’s
market performance is even more impressive than that of 2006,
because of the current macro-economic weakness.”
The continued strengthening of wholesale used van prices
throughout 2009, despite the increase in supply, indicates a
healthy buyer demand at the heart of the market.”
