Service buses – up to 10
years
- Very few late model (one to
five-years-old) units available on second user market, consequently
reasonable demand for any newer units which become available. - Overall, however, demand down
for such services buses from 12 months ago.
Service buses – over 10
years

By GlobalData- Limited demand for older
single and double deck buses as councils in particular look to more
environmentally friendly later model vehicles and compliance with
SLF requirements. - Realisations/values for older
stock have been reducing as the operating markets for such
contract.
Coaches – up to 10 years
- Demand remains steady for
leading brand manufacturers. - Second-tier brands have
experienced a significant decline in demand over the past 12 months
with a large number of vehicles currently available on the second
user market. - However, some of them have
been finding homes for school contract work as legislation tightens
for older vehicles. - Generally a seasonal market
which traditionally has seen peak demand in spring and summer
months.
Coaches – over 10
years
- Demand reducing as coaches
need modifying to be LEZ compliant. - Very limited demand for
coaches over 15 years old. - A lengthy test appears
essential when selling older coaches as purchasers demand more for
their money. - Older vehicles are generally
used for school contracts and see greatest demand in summer months
when contracts are made available for work in autumn term and
onwards. - Slight increase in demand seen
for coaches converted to 70-seat for such school work.
Midi coaches
- Demand remains steady for
35-seat midi coaches as very few on the market. - Limited demand for older
vehicles.
Mini buses
- Demand for late model vehicles
with disability access remains steady. - Very limited demand for older vehicles
especially when on a second tier chassis.
