The Lombard
Challenge

Golfing irons to the fore.
After 11 years of sponsoring the high profile PGA National Pro-Am
golf tournament, between 1995 and 2006, Lombard has re-entered the
golfing fray.

Prepare for The Lombard
Challenge, a Pro-Captain event, with ten qualifying tournaments,
and regional finals from May to September. The grand final prize is
worth £25,000, a generous step up from its previous
£7,500.

Finalists are to compete over
36 holes at the PGA Sultan course at Antalya Golf Club, Turkey, in
November.

Ian Wood, head of marketing
at Lombard says he “looks forward to watching the pros and captains
from around the UK battle it out to become this year’s
champions”.

Looks like Lombard – 150
years old this year – shows no signs of slowing down.

Tweed-tastic

A select pair of bidders at
last year’s leasing industry Christmas charity lunch, in support of
Cancer Journey, were lucky enough to bag a day’s pheasant shoot, at
Balcombe estate, Sussex.

While Basement Talk
has no independent verification of how good a shot the party were,
the tweeds certainly infer a professional look.

The bidding for this, among
other prizes, raised £6,000 for Cancer Journey, which is soon to
become part of Macmillan Cancer Support. The leasing industry
Christmas charity lunch for 2011 will be on 16th December at the
Institute of Directors.

ING passes with
flying colours

Hats off to the technical
services team at ING Car Lease, all of whom have passed the BVRLA’s
new automotive technician accreditation for rental and leasing
exam.

The top 10 fleet management
company claims to be the first to have all members of its technical
team pass.

The certificate assesses competence in vehicle
maintenance, repair, budgeting, health and safety and customer
services.
