Avral launched MotorTrade as an internet
showroom to offer its ex-lease vehicles to car dealers in 2009 and
it is currently available in most of the major European markets the
company operates in.

Sales through the platform reached the
landmark of 100,000 vehicles sold this summer and Arval now sell
more than 7,000 vehicles through MotorTrade every month.

With Avis, owned by the US-based Avis Budget
Group, also using the platform to sell its ex-rental vehicles Arval
estimates the number of vehicles on offer through MotorTrade each
year will more than double.

The service will also be expanded to 10
additional European countries as well as Brazil, India and
Morocco.

Agnès Van de Walle, head of group remarketing
at Arval, said the number of vehicles already sold through
MotorTrade was confirmation that the platform meets customers’
needs and added: “The partnership with Avis will enhance the offer
proposed on MotorTrade.

“The aim is to continue innovation to make
this platform the reference of the market”

The joint venture will be launched first in
France where dealers will be able to choose between ex-Avis
vehicles up to two years old and Arval vehicles aged between two
and five years including both cars and light commercial
vehicles.

Sales can be via MotorTrade 24 hours a day,
either by immediate purchase at the proposed price, or by
submission of bids.

Vehicles from the two companies will be listed
separately and deals followed up by the companies’ respective sales
teams.

Alexander Loucopoulos, Avis France fleet
director, said the deal offered a unique choice to dealers.

MotorTrade is currently available to dealers
in France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Russia, Turkey and the
UK.
