Emergent European leasing group, The Leasing
Foundation, has revealed Chris Sullivan, chief executive of the UK
Corporate Banking Division of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), as its
first governor and patron.

The Leasing Foundation was launched earlier this month with the
stated objective of supporting the leasing industry by providing
organisation for charitable activities and research which advances

The non-for-profit group’s director, Andrew
Denton, said Sullivan’s knowledge of the sector, as well as a
“continued affinity” with leasing, makes him an apt candidate for
the role.

Denton said Sullivan’s track record in
supporting philanthropic work, developing people and championing
diversity is why he was appointed. “There could be no better first
name on the team-sheet,” Denton said.

Of his newly acquired role, Sullivan, also the
2011 European diversity champion, said: “As patron I am looking
forward to providing a focus for the charitable activity for which
the leasing industry has always been recognised.”

Sullivan added he believes asset finance will
gain value from the foundation’s research contribution.

Sullivan’s role at RBS gives him
responsibility for the bank’s asset finance subsidiary Lombard and
he has been a vocal member of the leasing community.

Last year he spoke at a conference organised
by systems provider Sword Apak, on the subject of the
demise of the wholly-manufactured captive finance model
