John Bennett has retired from his 18-month role as interim managing director of Hitachi Capital Business Finance with Carl D’Ammassa taking up the position on a permanent basis.

This is Bennett’s second ‘retirement’ in two years after taking on the temporary position following his departure from Bank of America’s European vendor finance arm in 2010. Bennett, who was awarded the Leasing Life Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011, said he will "remain active in the industry" with a couple of prospective opportunities already and added he "would not rule out another interim role."

Bennett said: "I have worked with a first class team at Hitachi over the past 18 months. The business has been re-engineered and is now set to expand particularly in the vendor sector."

Bennett added he expects D’Ammassa, who joins from GE Capital where he ran the TLS Vehicle Rental, will lead the Hitachi Capital Business Finance to a period of successful growth.
