The entire finance litigation team of Chafes Solicitors, including head of lender services John Perez and head of debt and asset recovery Julia Williams, will move to fellow law firm DWF as of 1 February.
The transfer will also see all of Chafes’ lender clients relocate to the DWF banking & finance team.

The move follows the opening of DWF’s Birmingham offices in summer 2011 and the hiring of Joanne Davis from Shoosmiths as partner heading up the firm’s asset and consumer finance team. DWF’s asset finance division was further expanded in October 2011, and then extended its services to Scotland in summer 2012.
DWF said the appointment of Perez, as a partner, and Williams, as a director, and the rest of the team would strengthen both its national asset finance and existing motor finance recovery legal services; giving the firm a "dominant position in the motor finance sector", according to a company statement. That position in the sector saw Davis close the latest Finance & Leasing Association Motor Finance Convention with an address regarding satisfactory quality complaints.
The firm has also continued to supply comment pieces covering a breadth of legal services and cases for Leasing Life magazine including Davis and Natalie Evans’ assessment of leasing agreements over school equipment, partner David Wood on certificates of acceptance and Daksha Mistry, director of corporate and asset finance, on the growing number of cases of relief from forfeiture seen in UK courts.
