New leasing business grew by 7.2% in Germany over the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2014, according to the German leasing association Bundesverband Deutscher Leasing-Unternehmen (BDL).
In the first quarter of the year, machinery leasing and business car leasing performed particularly well compared to Q1 2014, increasing by 17% and 10% respectively.

Despite the fall in aircraft leasing, leasing of movable assets – which includes the railway and shipping segment- increased by 4%.
On the other hand, new leasing business in office equipment and IT declined by 14%. The stark decline was due to the fact that in the first quarter of 2014 the leasing volumes of this asset type were abnormally high.
