The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has recruited Magan Butler director of supervision – investment, wholesale and specialists as a one year secondment, and Christopher Woolard to its Board.

Butler will be stepping in for Tracey McDermott, who will become acting chief executive officer of the FCA from the 12 September, following the departure of Martin Wheatley.

She has joined from the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), where she is executive director of International Banks Directorate.

She joined the PRA in 2013, and before this was head of the department responsible for the supervision of the UK operations of major investment banks at the Financial Services Authority (FSA).

She will begin her role at the FCA on 1 September 2015.

Meanwhile Woolard has been appointed to the FCA board for a three year term, starting 1 August 2015.

He joined the FCA in January 2013 as director of policy, risk and research, which became strategy and competition in December 2014, following an FCA reshuffle. He is a non-executive member of the Board of the Payment Systems Regulator.
