UK broker and funder Ignition, a provider of vehicle and asset finance for SMEs in the south west of England, has appointed seven recruits to join its team.

The company was acquired by European fund manager, Star Capital Partners in April this year, sparking a recruitment drive at the broker in its transition to a hybrid business between broker and funder.

Ignition offers finance, principally to SMEs, for a wide range of assets from plant and machinery to vehicles and business equipment, with financing ranging from £1,000 to £1m per transaction.

The company is able to offer finance using either its own funds or via credit lines with funders.

The appointments comprise:

  • Edward Williams, joins Ignition from Galvan Research & Trading, taking on the role of business development manager
  • David Spark as sales and marketing manager, formerly call centre manager with The Money Group and TorFX
  • Tony Holton, formerly of Davenham Asset Finance, was appointed head of brokers in June
  • Ashley Eames and Aaron Townsend have been made associates
  • Kim Walker and Karen Mcmonagle have been made senior administrators

According to managing director, Alan Tutte, the recent expansion has resulted from a strong track record of growth since the company was established in 2004 which has been further boosted by the STAR acquisition, and is set to continue.

Tutte said: "With the emergence of an ever stronger SME sector in the South West, and many businesses looking away from traditional banks to alternative finance solutions, Ignition has a real opportunity to grow and thrive.

"Businesses value our quick response times and flexible approach to their needs, and tend to return to us. The last financial year was our best year on record, but in order to build on this success it has been essential to expand and strengthen our workforce."
