UniCredit Leasing will get €550m from the
European Investment Bank (EIB) to support small and medium-sized
enterprises and renewable energy projects.

This is the latest credit line granted
directly to the UniCredit subsidiary by the EU’s long-term lending
institution. In the past 12 months, the lessor has received more
than €1bn.

Of the credit line, €350m will be used for
financing investments by Italian SMEs and €200m for supporting
renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

UniCredit deputy CEO Sergio Ermotti said the
agreement was “fully in line with the group’s central objectives of
meeting customers’ needs and actively supporting Italy’s economic
and industrial system”.

EIB vice president Dario Scannapieco, who is
responsible for financing operations in Italy, Malta and the
Western Balkans, added: “[The loans] will provide support for
Italian businesses at a time when it is essential to nurture the
green shoots of economic recovery.”
